From full-fledged short stories to flash fiction, this six-week non-credit workshop for adults of all ages covers advanced storytelling and the revision process. Writers will hone and expand their fundamental storytelling skills in a supportive environment where they can explore their literary interests and experiment with character, plot, and language. The workshop asks participants to come with an open mind and be prepared to read, write, revise, and repeat.
This six-week workshop includes textual analysis, writing, and group revision exercises. It is designed to provide honest feedback in a casual, supportive, and respectful environment. Participants are expected to share their work and offer insightful comments on weekly readings and their peers’ work.
Requirements for Online Workshop
Writers need access to a computer, the Internet, and a copy of The Story and Its Writer by Ann Charters. (Most local libraries have this book. Make sure it includes all stories on the syllabus). Participants must possess basic computer skills and be familiar with Track Changes. All work submitted for feedback must follow proper manuscript formatting.
